John & John Henry
"Our late September wedding was guaranteed to be fun and despite extensive planning, unpredictable! We were two NYC-based grooms gathering our families and friends from all over the world to an outdoor wedding/indoor reception that was taking place on the remote gay beach resort town of Cherry Grove, Fire Island – accessible only by ferry and where no cars are allowed. We also had a colorful, tropical dress code & décor, an aggressive shot list, and a drag performer as our emcee. We both realized early in the planning process that photos would be very important. Some advice we got was that the wedding day goes by very quickly and to try to be present in the moment so we could truly enjoy it. So one of our goals was to find a photographer who didn't require a lot of guidance so that we'd be free to really enjoy ourselves in our wedding day! We wanted lots of great posed pictures and lots of great candids, with plenty of options to choose from. We also wanted someone who knew the island and who would document the day without it being too intrusive. Our planner presented us a few options and we checked out their websites. Marc’s work showed that he’d shot in a variety of settings, venues and with all types of people – and his philosophy (Anyone can be a Rock Star!) made him our first choice. Once we met Marc in person for a consultation a couple of months before the wedding, we knew we had made the right choice! Marc is fun, funny, smart and a good listener who has great ideas. He worked with us to understand our needs, wants, restrictions and offer us the right assurances and a fair price. His overall professionalism was great and Robyn helped us deal with the contracts/payments and was very responsive to any questions we had leading up to the big day. On the morning of our wedding, Marc showed up on time and ready to work! He was especially patient, creative, focused, resourceful and pleasant that day, putting us at ease. He offered suggestions on how to get the best outcome on our desired shots, no matter how silly or elaborate. And Marc would not move on to the next shot until he was happy with that he got a good one. Marc made sure that he captured all of the images that were important to us. He even reminded us to get the ones we talked about getting to later. Marc went above and beyond throughout the process, climbing into the rafters of a gazebo to capture a stunning ‘first look’ shot. He helped us troubleshoot a stubborn ‘sand impression’ that we wanted. Marc even managed to get a fantastic, one-time-only shot of every wedding guest surrounding us in the shape of a heart, throwing celebratory rainbow sprinkles on the two grooms. He also got a lot of great vignettes of the scenery and décor – and somehow, Marc captured so much of the action without being in everyone else’s photos! A true photo ninja! Marc sent us 18 breathtaking shots the day after the wedding so we could post and share some right away. When he sent the full set, we started to appreciate how fully he captured the energy of the day and the many awesome vignettes of our people feeling what they felt at our wedding – laughing, crying, dancing, cheering, anticipating, sipping, chatting, etc. He beautifully documented all of the important planned moments (like our first dance and cutting the cake), along with the unexpected moments (such as a ‘dance gift’ our friends planned for us and when an impassioned guest took over the emcee’s microphone). We have new favorites every time we look at them and I’m sure we’ll keep finding new things to love about all of them. Everyone who viewed the photos is delighted and impressed. And now, many friends have Marc ‘ear-marked’ for when/if they get married or have a big event. We can’t express how overwhelmingly pleased we’ve been with every aspect of working with Marc. Not only is Marc an excellent photographer, but we could tell that he was (and is) truly proud to celebrate us and our love, experiencing the many emotions of this day alongside us, while helping to preserve them. He simply ‘gets’ it. Marc captured the spirit of our day perfectly and now we have beautiful record of the lifetime of memorable moments that we couldn’t properly appreciate in that one day. (And now we can re-visit that happy day whenever we want!) We will be forever grateful."

"For several years my entire extended family has gathered: six grandchildren, my three children and their spouses and me, Grandma- on Fire Island during the summer. Marc Millman has captured glorious spontaneous, as well as posed photographs, that all of us treasure on the walls of our homes. With so many little children, great patience, knowledge of the best lighting and a terrific sense of humor are required to produce the extraordinary and memorable photos we now have. One particular image is so special that Marc had it enlarged. The photo canvas is now the centerpiece of my living room.
Marc's photographic talent and his terrific people skills have made us all feel he is a part of our family as we continue to grow in numbers (and sizes). And he will continue to memorialize our life events and summer get-togethers."
“I can’t count how many times artists and management request his photos. Marc’s keen eye and passion is reflected in his work.”Morgan Pitman (Production Manager at The Capitol Theatre)
"I hired Marc to shoot a surprise proposal on the beach in Fire Island. Marc had known my (now) fiancé since she was a little girl growing up on the island so it felt appropriate to have him photograph the special moment. Marc captured the proposal perfectly, we could not have been happier with how the pictures came out. We are so glad that we have such gorgeous pictures to remember this very important day in our lives. Marc was an absolute pleasure to work with and he is extremely professional, attentive and timely. I am so happy I hired Marc; you can tell how passionate he is about his work and his clients. It is clear that he truly loves what he does. We will cherish these pictures forever!"
"Marc photographed all four of our children's B'nai mitzvah. He was a pleasure to work with. He was easygoing and accommodating and everyone (including the kids) enjoyed working with him. He had creative ideas for the posed photographs and captured the the fun and excitement in an unobtrusive manner."David Stern

"I've used Marc Millman twice for two very special family events, my son's Bar Mitzvah and my wedding. In both cases, I was trying to avoid as much stress as possible with the planning and event itself. I wanted to capture all the special moments but do it in a way that was low key and didn't feel like work. Marc did an incredible job. I ended up with exactly what I wanted – which was beautiful pictures that captured the essence of what was going on – and done in a way that didn’t feel intrusive or stressful."
